Roles

These are the roles that are needed:

  • Asset
  • Metadata
  • Search
  • Segments

Time-based Metadata

Time-based allows you to describe segments of an asset that has more than one frame (such as Video and Audio Assets) with Metadata.

Typically time-based metadata has the following:

  • Timecode for the start or in-point of the segment.
  • Timecode for the end or out-point of the segment.
  • Metadata for that segment either as a tag or as a metadata view.

Viewing Time Based Metadata

Go to a video or audio asset.

  1. Click on the Time Based Metadata icon on the left navigation.
  2. This will open the Time Based Metadata Panel.
  3. In the tab there will be a list of all the time based metadata for this asset.

Filter Time Based Metadata

On the time-based metadata tab there are some ways to filter your time-based metadata:

  • Through filter on colors.
  • Through filter to either tags or metadata view.
  • Thorugh searching for users.

Adding Time Based Metadata

Go to a video or audio asset.

  1. Click on the Time Based Metadata tab on the left navigation.
  2. This will open the Time Based Metadata Panel.
  3. Underneath the asset will be icons to select, comments, time-based metadata and subclips. Press the time-based metadata icon

There are three ways of entering timecode for the time based metadata:

  1. You can click on the timecode then type in timecode for the start and end timecode of the time-based metadata.
  2. You can play the video, and use the { button or I key for marking an in-point, and using the } button or the O key to mark the out-point.
  3. You can use a combination of the above. Be sure to click out of the timecode onto the video to start using the keyboard shortcuts.

Once the metadata is entered do:

Adding Time Based Metadata through Video Intelligence

It is also possible to have AI generated time-based metadata for videos.

  1. Go to the asset which you wish to generate time-based metadata.
  2. Click on the gear in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Analyze.

When analyzing you will also give the asset a Video Caption which can be accessed through the captions option on the video-player.

Editing Time Based Metadata

With the time-based metadata panel open:

  1. Hover over the time based metadata entry that you wish to edit.
  2. The edit icon will show.
  3. Click on the edit icon.
  4. Update the tags, colors or timecode.
  5. Click the to save.

Deleting Time Based Metadata:

With the time-based metadata panel open:

  1. Hover over the time based metadata entry that you wish to delete.
  2. A edit icon will show.
  3. Click on the edit icon.
  4. Click on the trash can to delete.
