Archive and Restore Collections
Archiving allows you to move an asset's original format to another storage, for example if you don't need access to it very often or if you want to make sure that certain user's will not be able to delete it. By doing this on a collection you can control archiving and restoring on all assets in that collection.
Archiving a Collection contents
If the file isn't archived, and you have the roles can_archive_formats
and can_read_storages
and there is a storage with archive set you can archive files.
- Go to the search page and find the collection or open the collections panel and find the collection.
- Right click or open the menu for the collection you wish to archive
- Select Archive
- Select the archive storage if there is more than one.
- If you wish to delete the assets after the archive is completed select Delete after archive
- Click to confirm.
Please note: This operation will happen in the background, and if there are a large number of assets in the saved search it might take some time
Restoring a Collection's contents
If the collection has been archived, and you have the roles can_archive_formats
and can_read_storages
you can restore the asset's files.
- Go to the search page and find the collection or open the collections panel and find the collection.
- Right click or open the menu for the collection you wish to restore.
- Select Restore
- Select the storage you wish to restore too if there is more than one.

Please note: This operation will happen in the background, and if there are a large number of assets in the saved search it might take some time
Archive Status
Archive status is shown as an icons on the assets that are in the collection. These are to the right of the approval status. Archived status is also shown in the files panel.
This asset has it's main original format online, but it has also been archived.
If the format is then deleted from the main storage it will be marked as deleted on the main storage, and an additional icon is shown for that state. It is possible to restore it from archive once in this state.
